E-Tron Scooter – a merger of skateboard and scooter
The German automobile giant, Audi intends to release an amalgamation of an electric scooter and a skateboard, despite concerns over its user safety on roads. The Audi e-tron Scooter combines the features of a high-tech, stylish, electric scooter offering the ride that remind the essence of the skateboard. Huh, difficult to comprehend? Well, let us decode it for you.
Audi has taken the lead of electric cars for quite some time, and it is actively involved in making environmentally friendly cars under “e-tron.” The German car giant is continuously experimenting with future technology to develop its e-tron project. The last concept was an innovative car run by electricity, installed with advanced autonomous driving and planned for the future megacities. Inspired by the technology of car developing side, the e-scooter offers an unconventional solution for the urban riders.
This idea is sure to gain popularity. Those days are not far away when people in smart work outfits would use their little e-scooters. The electric scooter is a fresh and exciting mode of transportation in the future. The e-scooter offers a multi-channel movement solution and that last mile of the commute. The design of the e-scooter is, therefore, concerned with practicability– in short, the ease of transportation and storage. With a weight of only 12 kg (24 lbs), it can be easily folded and taken on a bus, a train or in the backseat of the car. It can also be pulled like a trolley when folded
E-scooter is similar to other appealing products coming in the market. However, this e-scooter promises a wave-like ride. There is no need to thrust your body forward and shift the weight to the front as done with a regular scooter. The riders put one hand on the handlebar and control the vehicle like a skateboard with their feet by shifting the weight. The other side is free to signal for turns. More on, the movable axles with four wheels enables turning through tight curves. The project manager for micro-mobility at Audi, Thorsten Schrader explained that obviously the e-tron Scooter moves straight, but the turning on curves gives a feeling of flow. He added that e-tron is for people who continuously move in cities and prefer style and functionality.
The steering handle gives steadiness, and the battery and the electronics are stored in the stem of the handle. It also displays the battery status. With a twist grip, the riders can accelerate and brake. The vehicle has a speed of 12.5 miles per hour that could be a turn off for some customers. The scooter uses regenerative braking, which means that when the vehicle brakes, it recuperates kinetic energy. Furthermore, hydraulic foot brake gives additional safety.
It also comes with legally required LED lights including daytime running light, rear light, a headlight and brake light.
A Bluetooth interface enables discrete adjustments to the ride characteristics and offers defense against theft. At last, the scooter comes in grey and black color and is made of wood or carbon. It can be charged in the car trunk via a socket.
